This weekend, the F1 teams and the FIA will discuss the engines to be used in the future. Max Verstappen certainly does not keep it a secret once again: if it were up to the Dutchman, the V10 engine would return to Formula 1. But well, he doesn't have the final say...

Of course, Verstappen would appreciate it if the FIA would primarily listen to the wishes of the F1 drivers when determining the technical regulations, as stated by the Red Bull Racing driver during a press moment where GPblog is also present. "But at the same time, you also have to listen to the manufacturers, what they want."

Not everyone agrees with Verstappen's stance

Verstappen is aware that manufacturers may drop out if they no longer agree with the regulations. "They wanted something different [than V10's], that was decided a few years ago. Of course, the world is changing rapidly and there are other things available and also what they need."

"I think everyone - or most people - agree that a V10 is cool and sounds better. Whoever thinks that is probably a bit crazy. But you also have to look at the situation in the world. Personally, I think the V10 is awesome. Hopefully, it will also make the cars much lighter and improve the driving experience compared to a hybrid."

But, Verstappen concludes: "I am not here to set the rules. It is up to the teams, the FIA, and the FOM to reach an agreement."
