Yuki Tsunoda posted his best result of the season so far with a seventh place in Baku, but can't be entirely satisfied with it according to himself. At the restart of the race after the red flag, which was waved as a result of Max Verstappen's blowout, he was unable to do anything to improve his position.
Tsunoda frustrated on AlphaTauri radio
This was reason for him to be frustrated, as could be heard on the onboard radio. "I can't do anything," he shouted. "I can't do anything else in that situation! What! How?!! Even thinking back to the start I don't know how to avoid it."
Even after the race, he expressed his dissatisfaction with his seventh-place finish. "Up until the red flag things were going well, but after the restart, the position on the track was all wrong. I tried my best to drive aggressively but couldn't prevent losing two places. I don't know how to avoid that," said Tsunoda in conversation with Formula1.com. "But I want to congratulate my teammate on his podium", he adds.
"In general, there were definitely positive points in the race weekend, but I'm really angry about the last lap," the Japanese rookie finishes. His team boss, Franz Tost, does not share that thought. "Yuki did a fantastic job, his race pace was unbelievable", said the AlphaTauri team boss.
