Lewis Hamilton hoped during the Russian Grand Prix to take a big lead in the world championship by Max Verstappen's engine change, but nothing was further from the truth. The Dutchman finished second and is only two points behind his rival.

The result was also a disappointment for Toto Wolff who was counting on a great performance from Hamilton. The Mercedes team boss finds it disappointing for the world championship, he said in an interview with Autosport.com.

"In a way, we're not maximising our points scoring, and the same today. I think quali was all decisive," the Mercedes team boss stated. "Valtteri going back after an engine penalty we knew was difficult, and we ended up with a first and fifth, and that is very good, no doubt about that. But Max recovered in a spectacular form, and that is not good for the championship."

Wolff has faith in Mercedes

Wolff, however, is not letting himself down. "In a nutshell, we just need to continue to be really aggressive in how we approach this season, not be defensive, but just move forward, in order to score these big points. Because neither us nor the others are really good in maximising the points at the moment."
