The first session of the triple-header is over. Valtteri Bottas finished the first free practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix fastest, closely followed by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen took turns in the lead. An important detail is that Verstappen drove a large part of the session on hard tyres, while the Mercedes drivers preferred the softs.

Sergio Perez, who started the weekend in a bad way after a contact with the barrier, was able to resume his session and climb back to fourth place. The difference at the front is very small: the entire top four is separated by only 0.269 seconds.
