Mercedes gets involved in social media discussions about Verstappen and Red Bull
- GPblog.com
As always the day after a Grand Prix, social media pages are full of messages. A lot of messages are positive and are meant to congratulate a driver or team, or just to give a boost. However, there are also many negative messages. Looking at Mercedes' Twitter activity, some of those messages are very much to the team's liking.
Mercedes fires up on social media
After Saturday's qualifying there was a lot of commotion caused by the statements of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, who were upset about the track position of Yuki Tsunoda. After this a lot of negative tweets were sent out on the internet, which Mercedes seemed to appreciate. The team even got involved in the discussion by tweeting directly to Tsunoda that he shouldn't worry about 'haters'.
In addition, the list of liked messages from the official Mercedes account shows that there are a number of tweets that are liked and meant as an attack on Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen. "The Red Bull academy is so toxic, Horner and Marko will happily throw anyone but Max under the bus," reads one message.
But Verstappen also had to pay the price after his lightning start, in which he immediately dealt with both Mercedes drivers. Mercedes fans blame the Dutchman for showing little respect for Valtteri Bottas in the past. In doing so they are reacting to the fuss that arose around the statement of Lewis Hamilton, who said that 'when Checo is on your tail you know the car is fast'.
Keep your head up, Yuki. Don't let the haters get you down.
