Christijan Albers has exerted a relentless judgement on Aston Martin following the Friday in Bahrain.

Different expectations of Newey at Aston Martin's F1 team

Albers' expectations were high when Adrian Newey signed for Aston Martin, but so far the team's performance has been disappointing. "Of course, they are aiming for 2026, but then I have the feeling: Is that Adrian Newey or Lawrence Stroll? It could also be that Newey thinks, 'I will only show something in 2026.'

"It seems like they are falling further and further [behind]. At this moment, it really looks like they are falling [back] and it is starting to become a bit dramatic. You are just used to seeing them a bit upfront and being able to show something with Alonso."

During FP2 Alonso pulled his steering wheel off the steering system whilst still out on track. Having come back to the garage the Spaniard was only able to set a fast lap late in the session which was only good enough for P15 anyway. Teammate Lance Stroll could do no better in P19.
