Valtteri Bottas finished seventh in Miami. A great result for
Alfa Romeo, but the team led by Frédéric Vasseur wants more. A major upgrade for the C42 is expected to come in Spain.
Alfa Romeo no longer satisfied with P7
Alfa Romeo is currently in fifth place in the championship with 31 points. Bottas is the veteran within the team and has no less than thirty points behind his name. His teammate
Guanyu Zhou, despite being a rookie, has also already scored a point. Vasseur is already getting used to the strong form of the team and is therefore somewhat dissatisfied with the result in Miami. Bottas finished seventh there behind the
Mercedes drivers.
Auto Motor und Sport quotes the team boss:
"The fact that we are disappointed with this result shows how much progress we have made this season." Bottas lost his fifth spot to
George Russell and
Lewis Hamilton due to a mistake he made himself. As a result, the Finn is now two places behind his former teammate by five points.
Vasseur sets clear goals
Alfa Romeo will continue its strong form in Spain and will again try to fight in the sub-top. Vasseur confirms that the team will bring a substantial package of upgrades with them to Barcelona. If all goes according to plan, a "big upgrade" is on the way. The team aims to separate itself from AlphaTauri, Haas, Aston Martin and
Williams. There are even already sneaky thoughts of a possible battle with
McLaren for P4.
