It's been a while since Fernando Alonso has topped a timetable, but the Spaniard managed to grab first place in the first WEC session at Spa Francorchamps, and Alonso admits that he's in the middle of an amazing season, all things considered.
2018 has been a good year so far for Fernando Alonso. He finally has a somewhat decent car again in the F1. Now, in the WEC, he's flexed his muscles even more by posting the best time at Spa in his Toyota.
"I'm in the middle of an amazing season," he told Speedweek.com.
"I'm participating in the Toyota test, but I missed the previous one because I had F1.
"So I still have to get used to driving in all the traffic, it's very different from the simulator."
The McLaren-driver has a very busy schedule because of his commitments in F1 and the WEC, and he knows that he has to pace himself and take care of himself.
"You have to spread your energy evenly throughout your day and really think how you spend your time," he explained.
"I have to be able to give 100% during the race, so I have to plan my training, my travels and my rest carefully."
