Fernando Alonso finished second in the six hour endurance race at Fuji circuit this weekend as Kamui Kobayashi in the sister car pleased the home fans by topping the podium in his home race.
Double F1 world champion Alonso, who is retiring from the sport at the end of the season still leads the championship in the #8 Toyota car he shares with former F1 drivers Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastian Buemi.
Kobayashi shares the sister #7 Toyota car with Mika Conway and Jose Maria Lopez were stripped of their pole position for speeding in the pit lane but marched through the field early and took the lead with Alonso complaining of handling difficulties during his stint.
The former Sauber and Caterham driver took the chequered flag after completing 230 laps in the six hours.
