During FP3, the same issue once again appeared trackside. At the Suzuka Circuit, for the second day in a row, the grass caught fire on two occasions. The FIA have now reacted to the events.

Approximately seven minutes into FP3, and towards the end of the session, the grass caught fire once again in Japan. As a result, the session was red flagged twice, similarly to FP2 on Friday.

With two hours to go until qualifying, the FIA have released a statement on the matter. "Ahead of Qualifying, all available time and resources will be focused on further dampening the grass before the session," their update says. The session will began at 7:00 GMT.

Lando Norris topped FP3 in Japan ahead of his teammate, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell.

Max Verstappen finished fifth in the session, and also commented on where his team need to improve ahead of the upcoming session over the team radio. His lap time was marginally quicker than Lewis Hamilton's. He is also under investigation by the stewards, for failing to follow the race director's instructions.
