Max Verstappen became Formula 1 world champion this year with Honda's engine. In the previous years there were often reliability issues, but in 2021 that was not the case. Marc Priestley looks ahead to 2022 and has high hopes for Verstappen's team.

During his live video on YouTube the F1 connoisseur is asked how good Red Bull's engine will be in 2022. The Brit seems to have faith in Honda. The engine supplier will continue to develop this season's material.

"I think it will be good. Essentially, it is still a Honda, it's the same engine. Honda are bringing a developed version of what they had this year. Presumably you'd hope their best ever engine", Priestley begins.

Priestley expects strong engine

Honda is leaving Formula 1 after this season, but will help Red Bull with the development of the engine in 2022. After that, the team will have to do it all themselves under the name Red Bull Powertrains.

"This year was a great engine. They're delivering something brand new to Red Bull before they then hang up their coats and off they go, out the door. So Red Bull should have a very, very strong engine next year", the Brit believes.

For those who will still watch F1. In so far as Lewis is not declared the world champion, then I see no reason to continue following. It's become a theatre of the absurd. Lewis should go to Indycar or another series where the races are decided on the track, not by #michaelmasi and his cartel in the @FIA any the majority of F1 fans will move with him

They have to charge those rules for the engine penalties when you change after 6 free pass. We can not have a big pocket team like Mercedes bringing new engines to every race like is making popcorn

Silly talk. With limited fuel, controlled fuel flow, max out put on the electric power and limits as to when and how much you can deploy it's near impossible to exceed current performance levels. It's a spec series.

This seasons engine is the 2022 engine, there's nothing new about the 2022 engine ,except the name. .

Yup...so people could optimise the engin better. RB really need to look to the hybrid section .. charging and discharging...to bring them closer to Merc

I'm maybe more excited to see who comes out with what engine wise than I am the new car designs. Maybe. But not quite. I would be if not for Newey, I know he's got something slick coming.
