Bottas about Perez joining Red Bull: 'The competition has become stronger again'

With Sergio Perez as a driver alongside Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing has become even stronger, Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas believes. But the Finn is especially happy for Perez that he was able to get a seat in Formula 1.

"I'm certainly happy for him, it's a place with a strong team," Bottas said at Friday's FIA Prize Giving gala in Geneva. The ceremony continued in a modified form compared to last year, due to the coronavirus.

"He really deserved that," continues Bottas, who also knows that Red Bull is taking a step forward with Perez. "The competition has become stronger as a result. It is still a lot of speculation, but it will certainly be interesting."
