Only a few minutes into Q3 on Albert Park, there suddenly was a Mercedes parked into the wall that was missing a wheel. Valtteri Bottas, the driver of that car, explained what happened, and how he looks ahead to Sunday's Grand Prix.
"I went a little wide on the first turn," Bottas explained to Sky Sports F1, "and I hit the track outside of the curbstone."
"The turn was also still a little wet, something which I didn't see coming."
"I had to steer to correct myself but I overdid it, and I ended up in the wall."
His W09 might be in bits and pieces, but the Finn himself suffered no injuries or pains during the crash. He knows that starting from tenth (or the pitlane) is very tough with how close the midfield is this year, but he's up for the challenge.
"You can't score points on Saturday, the points are handed out on Sunday."
"We'll do everything we can to get a good result tomorrow."
