The sprint qualifying in Miami almost started with a crash after
Oscar Piastri and
Valtteri Bottas nearly collided. Afterwards, an angry Piastri could be heard on
McLaren's team radio. Both drivers have to report to the stewards for the incident.
Bottas and Piastri to see the stewards
Piastri was just starting his flying lap when Bottas pulled over at the first corner rather late. It did not come to a collision, but Piastri was clearly unhappy with the Finn's action. " If that's not a penalty, I don't know what is," he said on McLaren's board radio.
Bottas, for his part, had no idea the Australian was coming, Stake
F1 radio reported.
"****, that was too late. I had no idea," said the driver, who will have to explain himself in the stewards' office. Both drivers are expected at the stewards' office at 17:50 local time (22:50 UK time).
