The drivers are getting ready for a street circuit in Monaco this weekend. For years there has been a lot of criticism of the track, as there are often few surprises during the race.
Lewis Hamilton, therefore, called for changes this week.
Ross Brawn is not negative about it, although he also sees problems.
Indeed, Formula One's Director of Motorsport believes that teams are always pushing the envelope.
"We could look at the format. I mean, some of the teams have suggested we only use soft tires for the whole weekend — now, I can recall a race in Singapore where the tires were very soft and the guy in front just queued everyone up until it was the opportune time for him then to change his tires. The teams are so good at taking advantage of the conditions," he commented in conversation with
RACER.
Another possibility is to make changes to the track that would make it easier to overtake. Brawn doesn't know if that's possible, however. "That’s a big question. We’re very limited, but maybe we just need to have a lateral view as to whether there’s anything that can be done with the track or the layout that could enhance the racing."
Enthusiasm about Monaco GP
However, Brawn does not want to forget that it is wonderful for drivers and fans to have a Grand Prix in Monaco every year. Indeed, he believes it is a special event.
"There are some unique challenges at Monaco, and there’s definitely nowhere else we race with those sort of challenges," said Brawn, who saw
Ferrari open the race weekend excellent.
