Actually, it was no longer a surprise, but now it is official. At the US Grand Prix in Austin, Daniel Ricciardo will make his return to the F1 grid. The Australian has been 'more or less' confirmed by AlphaTauri as a driver alongside Yuki Tsunoda.

Ricciardo broke his hand at Zandvoort, forcing him to watch five Grands Prix from the sideline. Liam Lawson was his replacement at the Italian racetrack. So now Ricciardo is fully recovered and can resume his season with AlphaTauri. With the team's latest post on X, it is now certain that the good-humoured driver is getting back in.

Ricciardo is already in action for Red Bull Racing

Ricciardo was already doing some work in the simulator in the run-up to the Qatar Grand Prix and he has been doing some work for Red Bull Racing. Moreover, he provided a demonstration in Nashville. The veteran did so not with an AlphaTauri car but an old Red Bull. With that team, Ricciardo is also in the picture to possibly succeed Sergio Perez as the second driver alongside Max Verstappen in 2025. Ricciardo has since been confirmed for the 2024 season at AlphaTauri.
