The sprint race in Baku was not particularly spectacular, yet there was no shortage of thrills. Max Verstappen and George Russell made contact in the early stages of the race, but AlphaTauri drivers Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda also hit each other.

After the sprint race, in which Tsunoda crashed out because a tyre came loose from his AlphaTauri car, De Vries discussed the moment with GPblog and others. "I didn't call him yet.," he replies when asked if he has spoken to his teammate yet.

With the suggestion that he hit Tsunoda, De Vries disagrees in any case. " I didn't hit him." the 28-year-old Dutchman revealed. "We were next to each other into turn three and obviously he was on the outside and it like with room for one car and I was slightly ahead.," he added.

As the teammates entered a corner together with no room to drive side by side, they hit each other. "He must have touched my right rear, I guess.," De Vries observes. When asked whether both drivers left enough space for each other, he has a clear answer: "Apparently there was not enough room for both of us."
