Ed Sheeran is in the
F1 paddock this weekend in Miami. The British singer admitted to getting hooked on
Formula 1 after watching Netflix's Drive to Survive series. Sheeran will be performing at the
Miami Grand Prix this weekend.
The 33-year-old British singer said he first got into the sport after being booked for Austin two years ago, admitting he "didn't really know much about it" before then. However, since then, he has become more interested in F1 and has undertaken a "crash course" to get up to grips with everything.
How did Ed Sheeran become an F1 fan?
"I watched all of Drive to Survive and I guess that’s like the best crash course that you can do in it is just watch that and most people that I know that love it now are into it through that," Sheeran said on
Sky Sports. Commenting on the drivers, Sheeran said
"I’m just about to do the hot lap with George Rusell which will be fun," before adding
"I met Verstappen last time who was lovely. I’m meeting Leclerc later and yeah, it’s good." The Briton spent most of his time in the paddock on Friday with
Red Bull Racing, and was pictured speaking with team boss
Christian Horner. It could also be seen with the engineers, who gave him a quick run-through of how everything works.
Sheeran concluded his interview with Kravitz by saying: "It’s nice man, it’s a circus though. It’s like so much going on."
