Oscar Piastri took his third win in five races to start the 2025 Formula 1 season with victory at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, beating Max Verstappen in P2, while Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium in third. The Australian started behind the Dutchman to start the race, but after making a better start, he looked to make the move down into turn 1.
Verstappen went around the outside, looking to get ahead at the corner, but he ran out of room and then went across the first couple of corners, getting back in front.
As a result, a five-second penalty was handed out to the 27-year-old, and during the first round of pit stops, those stationary seconds allowed Piaatri to easily pass, never relinquishing his lead, with Verstappen settling for P2.
Norris worked his way all the way up from P10, making the alternate strategy work after starting on the hard tyres, then changing to the medium tyres to chase down Charles Leclerc, but just could not make the move, with the Ferrari driver taking P3, while Norris finished P4, while George Russell took P5.
Russell's teammate Kimi Antonelli took P6 ahead of his predecessor Lewis Hamilton, who could only take P7 in his Ferrari.
The pair of Williams's took P8 and P9, with Carlos Sainz coming ahead of Alex Albon, while Isack Hadjar rounded out the top ten.
