A highly-tipped driver change was announced on Thursday afternoon:
Daniel Ricciardo will be replaced by
Liam Lawson at
Visa Cash App RB immediately. As a result, at COTA, the Faenza-based team will run with the driver line-up of Lawson and
Yuki Tsunoda.
VCARB announce Lawson
It is now official:
Liam Lawson became a full-time F1 driver with Visa Cash App RB, and will finish the rest of the season with the team, starting from the US Grand Prix after the autumn break.
The news came after the team first confirmed the departure of Ricciardo. It is not the first time Lawson was substituted in for the eight-time Grand Prix winner, as he drove for the team (then called AlphaTauri) from the Dutch GP until the Qatar GP in 2023.
Team principal Laurent Mekies also reacted to the announcement.
