The
FIA is appointing Giancarlo Minardi as president of the Single-Seater Commission, announces
the organization officially. In this role, he will focus, among other things, on the cooperation between the talents in motorsport and the
FIA in the coming years.
Minardi is still a familiar name in
Formula 1. Indeed, in the past he competed in the motorsport class under his surname, although not exactly with much success. In 2001 he took the decision to sell the team to Paul Stoddart.
Fernando Alonso, Jarno Trulli and Mark Webber, among others, come from Minardi's breeding ground. The FIA therefore believes that he knows better than anyone how
Formula 1 should handle talents to take them far in the sport. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem therefore speaks enthusiastically on the website about bringing Minardi in.
Other activities of Minardi
By the way, Minardi's work will not only be about juniors. Indeed, the introduction of innovative technologies also falls under his responsibility. Finally, he will also deal with safety measures in Formula 1, a subject that has been high on the agenda for years.
