Lando Norris secured the pole position for tomorrow's Grand Prix in a tightly contested qualifying session at a hot Monza. Four teams looked like a securing pole at the 'temple of speed', and eventually,
McLaren succeeded with a stunning Q3 session.
Lando Norris will start the race from pole, and his teammate
Oscar Piastri will start from second.
George Russell will start from third, but
Max Verstappen will start from just seventh after struggling with his RB20 throughout qualifying, branding his car as 'shocking'.
Debutant
Franco Colapinto was knocked out in Q1. The Argentinian had a trip across the gravel on the exit of the second Lesmo corner, meaning that he will start the
Italian Grand Prix from 18th place. Alex Albon made Q3 and will start ninth for
Williams.
Both Red Bulls are over five-tenths behind the leading McLarens and neither driver looked comfortable throughout the session. Norris's pole means that he has secured back-to-back pole positions for the second time in his career.
