Max Verstappen had to deal with bad luck again during qualifying for the
Spanish Grand Prix. In the closing stages of the race, the Dutchman lost speed. It was eventually
Charles Leclerc who ran off with the pole position.
Carlos Sainz and
George Russell will start from the second row of the grid, with
Sergio Perez and
Lewis Hamilton behind them on the third row. Leclerc spun during his first run of Q3, but the Monegasque eventually managed to come back strongly. Verstappen presumably suffered from a DRS problem, which prevented the Dutchman from setting a fast lap in the final stint.
Mick Schumacher managed to reach Q3 for the first time after
Lando Norris ' lap time was removed in Q2 due to track limits.
Valtteri Bottas,
Kevin Magnussen and
Daniel Ricciardo completed the top ten.
