Pierre Gasly has revealed that he feared for his F1 career at the beginning of the 2019 season. The Frenchman was allowed to start the season at
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing after just over a year at
Toro Rosso.
However, a poor start to the season cost him his place in the main team, being dropped down to Toro Rosso during the mid-season break.
"In the lower race classes, I always finished in the top 3. Of course, that didn't work during my first season with Toro Rosso, but it went well there," Gasly told French RTL.
"Those six months at Red Bull, however, were enough to undo almost all of my work. It almost cost me my career. "
Gasly did manage to rediscover his form towards the end of the season and managed to come through and secure seventh in the final drivers' standings.
