Pierre Gasly admits that him and Renault driver Carlos Sainz Jr. are both waiting for the Red Bull call as the team consider their options for Daniel Ricciardo's replacement.
Daniel Ricciardo announced recently that he will be joining Renault at the end of the season and there has been lots of speculation regarding who will be in the Red Bull seat next season alongside Max Verstappen.
The two clear frontrunners at the moment are Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly and Renault driver Carlos Sainz Jr.
Sainz has also been rumoured to have attracted interest from McLaren as their two drivers have uncertain futures.
Gasly admits that he would like to be promoted from Red Bull's junior team, Toro Rosso, to the senior team - but also says that he is not thinking too much about it at the moment.
"Sure I would like to be promoted," Gasly told Autosport.
"But I do not think too much about it. I'm happy with my season so far with Toro Rosso and I'm happy to be in this team."
When asked what the future holds for the Frenchman, he replied: "It's the same as Carlos', we both wait and see what happens."
Gasly has outperformed his team mate Brendon Hartley, but the Toro Rosso man says that he has complete respect for the Kiwi.
"He's pretty fast and does not make it easy for me," Gasly said on Hartley.
"I do not care what teammates I'll have, because if I want to be the best I have to stand up to the best. It's my first full Formula 1 season and I'm only 22-years-old.
"I'm happy to stay on board with Toro Rosso when they need me. But of course, I also want to fight for victories and titles as fast as possible."
