Pierre Gasly has hailed the reliability of Honda's engines this season, as the Frenchman thinks they are more reliable than the Renault power-units Toro Rosso had last season.
The 22-year-old made his debut for Toro Rosso at the end of last season, when Renault engines seemed to explode as soon as someone touched the throttle. He only experienced four races with Renault, but he knows enough to compare that power unit to the one he has this season.
Gasly headed into the summer break with after a very impressive outing in Hungary, where he qualified in sixth (beating Red Bull) and finishing there on Sunday as well. He did concede that the Japanese engine has ground to make up in terms of power, but there are plenty of positives as well.
"On the driveability side since the beginning of the year, I think it's pretty good and more consistent compared to what we had with Renault last year," the Frenchman told Autosport.
"It's more on the throttle and the torque you get from the engine.
"We know where we need to improve, in terms of overall power we need to improve it, but in terms of driveability it's really good."
