He remains alongside Santino Ferrucci at the American team as a reserve driver.
Arjun Maini will be retained by Haas and extended as a reserve driver for the team. The Indian will be racing in Formula 2 this year alongside fellow Haas reserve driver, Santino Ferrucci.
Just yesterday, Haas announced they were keeping Ferrucci as their reserve driver and with Maini staying on also, the team have kept things as they were going into the 2018 season.
Maini raced in GP3 last season finishing ninth in the championship with 72 points. That campaign included a win in Spain. Speaking about his relationship with Haas, the 20-year-old said he was glad to be a part of the team that was helping him learn so much.
"I’m extremely proud to be a part of
Haas F1 Team,” Maini said. “Being involved with an F1 program has really accelerated my learning in terms of what I need to do on the racetrack and with my engineers.
“In fact, it’s already helped me transition from GP3 to F2. I’m one step closer to my goal of competing in Formula 1 thanks to Haas F1 Team’s support.”
Haas team principal Günther Steiner, also was pleased with Maini's progress and affirmed he would be keeping an eye on the young driver.
“Arjun enjoyed a breakout season in GP3 last year and we’re keeping a close watch on his progress this year in F2.
“He has a history of finding success at every level in which he’s competed and we’re supportive of his efforts as he steps up to F2.”
