Everything is going well for Max Verstappen and Red Bull at the moment. They are leading both championships by a fine margin and Mercedes seem to have problems with the speed of its competitor.
Still, we shouldn't write off the Mercedes-Lewis Hamilton duo just yet. This is what Jolyon Palmer and Jack Nicholls say in the BBC F1 podcast. Palmer, however, does acknowledge that Horner and Red Bull currently have the fastest car and a lot of confidence.
"You've got the car that you've built and you can use strategy to be a bit better than your car actually is and there are always elements like race pressure, but if Red Bull really have no fear of Mercedes I think that's a great position to be in." He understands that Red Bull are currently dominating F1, but says Mercedes and Hamilton should not be written off just yet.
"Verstappen has now become three races in a row and the last few races have not been particularly spectacular. How many times have we seen Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton win four or five races in a row? I think this is still a possibility, especially during the second half of the season."

Mercedes is all but defeated

Jack Nicholls concurs. "I think a DNF or a bad strategy could cost Red Bull more than it has done to Mercedes before. You just can't write off Mercedes and Hamilton at this point in the season yet. They can react and come back. Austria was not suited to their car. But it is Hamilton. It's their biggest challenge so far, but if there's a team-driver combination that can do it then Hamilton and Mercedes are it."
The season is not yet halfway over and the battle between Mercedes and Red Bull will remain exciting both on and off the track until the final race. Next up: Silverstone.
