Lewis Hamilton has heaped the praise on his
Mercedes supporters after the Brit was part of the team which celebrated a record-breaking sixth consecutive Formula One World Championship double at the
United States Grand Prix.
The 34-year-old secured the drivers' title after finishing 2nd in the United States, having helped the team seal the constructors' title a week earlier in Mexico.
With two races remaining, Hamilton and
Valtteri Bottas stand as the two drivers at the top and are well clear of the rest of the grid.
"
It's very difficult to find the right words to express my gratitude to all of you for continuing to push every year - it's thanks to you that I've been living my dream, that I've been able to succeed and reach this incredible achievement in my life, " Hamilton told the
Mercedes website.
"I'm incredibly proud to be part of this group and I can't thank you enough for everything that you've done. I never in a million years thought I'd get to six."
