Toro Rosso driver Brendan Hartley is ready to hit the Baku streets running after plenty of preparation. The New Zealander is yet to race at the Azerbaijan circuit, but he understands the complexity.
The straight is one of the fastest on the calendar and some of the walls are tight with some drivers suggesting it makes Monaco spacious.
"I don’t know how many different circuits I’ve driven in my career but I’m always excited to drive a new one,” said Hartley.
“I think it’s very unique - some really interesting corners with no room for error, which is always something I enjoy.”
Hartley claims his practice on the simulator will be enough to see him through the weekend having experienced the challenging track in the virtual world.
“From driving it on the simulator, the bit by the castle almost reminds me of Macau, which is one of my favourite tracks.”
Toro Rosso again will be one of the most watched teams in the mid-field paddock. More attention will be drawn upon the ‘fluke’ in Bahrain, and also the ratings of the Honda engine for Red Bull.
