Andrea Kimi Antonelli not even could complete 10 minutes of track time in FP1 at the Bahrain International Circuit, causing a headache for the German team.
Over the team radio, seven minutes into the session, the Italian rookie reported that he has no power at all to his race engineer, Peter Bonnington. Luckily for the driver, he could return his car to the pit lane safely.
After getting back to the garage, Mercedes began to revise Antonelli's car to find the issue, and the youngster was out of his car, talking to his race engineer.
As a result, in FP1, neither of the German team's regular drivers could get a healthy number of laps in. That task had to be completed by Danish driver Frederik Vesti, who replaced George Russell this session.
