Honda will make a change to their power units ahead of the season-opening race in Melbourne. The Japanese manufacturer will supply two teams this year in Red Bull and Toro Rosso.

Red Bull and Toro Rosso were caused no headaches during the whole of winter testing due to their Honda power units, only Pierre Gasly's crashes preventing Red Bull from gaining further running due to damages caused.

Honda technical director Toyuharu Tanabi echoed the sentiment, adding that the manufacturer had been able to record high mileage without major issues but that some things would need to be changed ahead of the first race of the season.

"We were able to run throughout all eight days of winter testing without any major problems on the PU side," he said.

"This meant we were able to do a good mileage. We experienced some minor issues in the second week, but that is what testing is all about, dealing with anything that arises before the season gets underway."

A repackaging of the power unit was highlighted as the main issue facing Honda before lights out in Australia but it was "not a big concern" according to Tanabe.

"We don’t have a serious problem with the current installation, but we found some issues because of the tight packaging", Tanabe explained to Motorsport.com.

"The shape was a little bit too aggressive, so we need to make it a little bit different. It’s not a big concern."
