Jos Verstappen has involved himself in the saga surrounding the rear wing of McLaren, reposting images showing how the rear wing of the MCL39 flexes compared to the rear wing of the Red Bull.
During the winter testing days in Bahrain, images appeared on social media showing the rear wing of the Mercedes appearing to tilt at high speed, with McLaren also using these 'flexi'wings, also know as 'mini-DRS', with the flexing and opening of the outer slot of the rear wing at high speeds making their cars faster, with breaking then closing that gap right down.
After the first race at the Australian Grand Prix, the FIA introduced new rules on the use of the so-called 'mini-DRS', which will come into effect at the Spanish Grand Prix. McLaren were not concerned about the new rules and claimed that this 'had no impact' on the team and the performance.
On the social media platform X, Jos Verstappen reposted images and videos surrounding this debate, with the social media post showing the rear wings of Lando Norris' McLaren and Max Verstappen's Red Bull.
The video looks to show a bend in the McLaren that is significant compared to the Red Bull, with the caption of the post reading: "Yes, the season certainly starts in Spain, McLaren is a monster when it comes to wing flexing".
In the eyes of Red Bull Racing, McLaren have been operating on the edge of these regulations, and the subsequent change of these rules from the FIA could hand them a hefty blow in regards to their pace if their front wings are subjected to stricter rules, therefore resulting in a change to their structure.
