Robert Kubica says he is "ready" to make the step up to the Williams race seat if Lance Stroll does leave the team.

Lance's dad, Lawrence is now the owner of Force India, after the Canadian and his consortium took over the team following the side going into administration.

The Canadian businessman was previously the owner of Williams, and with Stroll now at Force India, Lance could make the same switch to follow his dad.

The Williams driver was asked about the potential swap in the build-up to the race at Spa-Francorchamps tomorrow and he replied: "For the moment, I am here at Williams. I am not sure what I will be doing in the future."

Kubica is Williams' reserve driver currently, and it looks like the side may call on the Polish driver if needed, to fill Stroll's seat.

"I feel ready because otherwise I would not sign a contract with Williams this year," Kubica told Autosport. "So it's on my desk that, 'you have to keep being ready and in case something happens, you have to set up'.

"Of course, it is not easy when you have to drive against the top drivers in the middle of the season. Although I have some opportunities to drive the car, you still lack experience, but you have to do it.

"I also think Williams approached me for this role, they also have no doubts that I can do it.

"But what's happening currently and a lot of speculation is not affecting myself. I am doing my job and then what the future will bring, we will see."
