Haas driver Kevin Magnussen expects to extend his stay with the American team and expects the process and the announcement to happen very soon.

Magnussen has dropped a huge hint on his future plans for 2019 - and it looks certain that the Dane will be staying with current team Haas.

However, his team-mate Romain Grosjean has struggled with his performaces this season and his future looks uncertain - with Sauber's Charles Leclerc linked with his Haas seat for next season.

But Magnussen looks set to stay with the team.

"I have been in contact with the team in recent weeks and I think we can announce something soon," Magnussen revealed to BT newspaper.

His boss, Guenther Steiner also revealed that his Haas team wish to announce both of their drivers at the same time - and that should be done within the next few weeks.

"We would like to announce both drivers at the same time. I think it will happen in a few weeks," Steiner explained.

In recent weeks, Magnussen has made the headlines - mainly for the wrong reasons with the Danish driver appearing in court and losing a case against a former manager.

Now, Magnussen must give up 20 per cent of his annual salary due to this.

"I don't really know what to say about it - it's all a bit confusing," Magnussen added. "I don't feel that I won or that I lost. I can't really explain it."
