Former Red Bull and Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat has completed his first on-track duties for his new employer Ferrari, as the Russian completed a Pirelli wet-tyre test in Fiorano.
Kvyat was a surprise signing for Ferrari as he was finally axed by Toro Rosso in the later stages of last year after a series of rather reckless and subpar performances for the team. Ferrari snapped him up in the off-season and Kvyat became a development driver.
The Russian had only done simulator work since he signed in January, but he finally got some on-track action with the SF71-H with a tyre development test. Both Kvyat and Antonio Giovinazzi took to Fiorano and Kvyat completed 118 laps without any problems, which probably is a record for the Russian.
