Liam Lawson will drive
Yuki Tsunoda's AlphaTauri during the first free practice session for the
Mexican Grand Prix. The team announced this via
social media.
The 2022
Formula 1 season is drawing to a close, but a number of teams have yet to comply with the requirement to field a rookie during the first free practice session of a GP weekend. AlphaTauri, therefore, chose to give Lawson that chance at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, while at Alpine the choice was Jack Doohan.
Earlier this year, Lawson made his debut during an official
F1 session at the
Belgian Grand Prix. There, he got to drive
Pierre Gasly's AlphaTauri during the first free practice session.
