Charles Leclerc has looked back on his Formula 2 sprint race victory at the Bahrain International Circuit last year to provide inspiration for the Grand Prix this weekend.
Leclerc pitted for fresh tyres at the halfway stage and went on to pass through the field giving him the race win.
“I will be familiar with all of the activities taking place at the track throughout the race weekend,” said the Frenchman
“I know the track from last year when I raced there in Formula 2, and have great memories.
"The track is interesting. The temperatures are very high.
"This creates interesting strategies due to the degradation that takes place.”
Leclerc was out-qualified by team-mate Marcus Ericsson in Australia two weeks ago and finished 13th.
His Sauber team are confident on improving on the start they made to the season but Leclerc refused to make any prediction.
“Let’s see what the next race will bring.”
