Leclerc calls FIA intervention to reduce porpoising unfair

Charles Leclerc does not agree with the FIA's intervention when it comes to porpoising. According to the Monegasque, Ferrari has made huge strides and all of this should be binned when the new rules come into effect.

On Thursday, news emerged that the FIA wants to intervene harshly against the porpoising problems of Formula One teams. While some drivers welcome the intervention, there are also drivers who do not think it is fair, such as Leclerc. The Monegasque says at Motorsport.com namely that Ferrari has made reducing bouncing a priority from day one.

According to Leclerc, Ferrari has made huge strides when it comes to reducing bouncing. Partly because of that, he thinks it's unfair for intervention to take place because there is one team(Mercedes) that just can't get the problem under control. The four-time Grand Prix winner hints at the solution of adjusting the ride height of the cars that suffer a lot from porpoising.

Leclerc admits that he does understand why George Russell and Lewis Hamilton complain about porpoising. Leclerc saw Hamilton get out of his car in Baku and says about that he could just about feel his pain. Nevertheless, he sticks to his opinion and thinks that a solution should be looked at on a team-by-team basis.

Formula 1 has been divided into two camps in recent days when it comes to porpoising. Red Bull Racing has little problem with bouncing and therefore does not think it is necessary for the FIA to intervene. Guenther Steiner of Haas F1 shares Red Bull's opinion. Mercedes, on the other hand, wants the FIA to intervene and they have already received support from Pierre Gasly, among others.
