Ferrari's team performance has been disappointing so far. Instead of fighting for pole positions and victories, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz struggle weekly to finish in the top five at all with their SF-23. However, Leclerc is not yet worried about the disappointing performance and is looking optimistically at updates for the rest of the season.
Charles Leclerc spoke to the press in attendance last race weekend at Silverstone, answering the question of whether he is worried about his Ferrari's current performance. "I'm not particularly worried, it's part of the game". The Monegasque currently occupies seventh place in the championship and the connection with the top is still far away. Still, he sees starting points to catch up with Red Bull before the end of this season.
"We are still mainly focused on this year's car because we've got clear weaknesses and we know that we need to address those. And when we will have addressed those, then it goes together," the Ferrari driver said.
Despite some updates, the Ferraris did not get further than ninth and 10th place at Silverstone, but Leclerc still sees steps forward in the past three races. "We've already done steps forward in the last three races. There are many more things coming in the next races in order to not only be in front of Mercedes and Aston, but to be fighting the Red Bulls as quickly as possible. And we are on the right track, I'm sure!". Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur agrees with his driver's vision and even thinks winning races this year is still possible.
