Last season
Ferrari could be satisfied with third place in the Constructors' Championship, but in 2022 that seems to be different. Thanks to the new regulations, the Italian team might be competing for the world title again, as
Charles Leclerc also realizes.
The Monegasque thought he would be able to fight directly for the world title in early 2019 with the move to
Ferrari, but nothing was further from the truth. The Italians experienced a very disappointing season in 2020. The following year, the team managed to slowly make steps forward, but the difference with
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes was still huge.
During the first days of testing in Barcelona this year, it became clear that Ferrari is putting a powerful car on the track. Although it is unclear for the time being what cars the competition will bring to the track, Leclerc realizes better than anyone that he may have a chance of winning the world championship this season.
Leclerc believes in world title for Ferrari
However, Leclerc is by no means distracted, he told Canal Sports Club in an interview. "Ferrari is always under great pressure," he admits honestly. "But we react well as a team and we have also prepared well for the new rules. Achieving five wins would already be great." Leclerc expects this to be enough to take the world title.
