Charles Leclerc defends Max Verstappen against the Tifosi. The Monegasque is not happy with the booing from 'his fans' towards the reigning world champion and is also bothered by all the flares.
The Grand Prix weekend in Monza was no picnic for Verstappen. The Dutchman was booed by the fans all weekend and footage showed that his mother was also negatively called out in one of the chants. The drivers are unanimous in their disapproval and hope it will soon disappear from the sport.
''I think nobody likes booing and I think it shouldn't happen. That's it," Leclerc said on the FIA press conference. ''But then for the flares, personally I think it's okay when it's used maybe before the formation lap or laps to the grid or something. But then sometimes during the race, it can be a bit confusing for us. But it's the way it is."
Verstappen also revealed that he had not had a great weekend in Monza. He was the target of all the boos this weekend, but with victory he gave the right reaction to the public. Verstappen himself said that the win was his only goal and that he would not worry about anything else.

Oh and just also to add to the article is those two things mentioned, being booed and chanting of Max's mother wasn't the only thing as i mentioned. Videos with ACTUAL PROOFS of Ferrari fans harrasing Redbull fans taking away their merchs and stating Redbull aren't allowed there. And I mean wow, if they were greeted well this year on Redbull and Verstappen tracks this could really easily turn the other wrong way quickly if things aren't fixed until next year. Who says the "home crowd" in Austria, Dutch, Belgium and Hungary are going to be this acceptable to ferrari fans when they are doing this all of a sudden? I think they are to humble and nice kind of people to go sink down to that low that ferrari fans did today but enough of this bs and things could turn out bad if stretched too far
Tifosi are rural, wild, lowe level pekple. As lways they were. Li,e English fans.
And you are a bigot. Do not bundle everyone along with the idiots.
Good he pointed that out and great from gpblog taking this up. It's way too little talked about. With this there are ACTUAL proofs. Not only videos on twitter how they are chanting that Maxs mother is a wh#re but also now seen video when they force Redbull fans to take of their clothes for Redbull, saying "Redbull aren't welcome but mclaren is OK" and then going after Redbull fan harassing while taking of the Redbull merchs. This was in tiktok so I guess there are on twitter also. Unbelievable since ferrari has been welcomed and cheered and greeted with kindness from the start at all Verstappen /Redbull tracks but on ferrari track they are going completely the other way doing all this bs to Max and Redbull all of a sudden. If this continues without anything happening now the future of this seems dark.
Leclerc could have condemned it more emphatically, he perhaps doesn't realize how big an influence he will be with the tifosi. Hope this fan behaviour doesn't recur in the future tracks, but this is less likely to happen in Asia or the Americas.
Leclerc should have spoken up right after the race. Not now, after the pressure from the non-British media is piling up. A tiny bit of booing of Lewis: sky sports is all up in arms. 10x worse from the tifosi towards Max: deafening silence from sky sports.
