Red Bull Racing's current wind tunnel is very outdated, but according to Dr. Helmut Marko, that is set to change in 2026. He said a new wind tunnel will be delivered then.

'We need to fix it'

Red Bull is no longer the most dominant team on the grid, instead that title belongs to Mclaren.

At Kronen Zeitung, Marko said, "We need to deliver quick updates that actually work. There are many coming, and if a part doesn't work, we need to fix it."

However, to get the upgrades working and right where they need to be, they need an upgraded wind tunnel. "Our current wind tunnel is a leftover from the '40s and was built by the military," Marko revealed.

"Although the tunnel has been modified multiple times, it still has the disadvantage of being very long, and the concrete pipes are visible. When it's cold or hot outside, it's difficult to reach the desired temperature."

New wind tunnel underway

Luckily for Red Bull Racing, work has begun on their new wind tunnel already. The Austrian confirmed, "The new wind tunnel is under construction and is expected to be ready in 2026.

"The discrepancy was sometimes very annoying last year, and we have been working on it," said Marko. "However, we don't know exactly where it's going wrong."
