Max Verstappen won the Sao Paulo GP in some fashion. Even as he didd get a lucky break with the red flag, he won starting from P17 on the grid. Did he complete one of his best Grands Prix ever? The Dutchman reacted to that question himself at
Interlagos.
Verstappen calls victory at Interlagos one of his best ever
Luck in Brazil didn't seem to go Verstappen's way, given how Sunday started with the rescheduled qualifying session. Not only he already had a five-place grid penalty, he was eliminated in Q2 thanks to a red flag. However, following the aborted start, the Dutchman could already overtake six drivers on Lap 1.
Perhaps it was the
Red Bull Racing driver's best ever Grand Prix in the competition, many said afterwards. Verstappen thinks it could be, given how crucial it was given the championship.
"The pressure was on, and as team and myself we didn’t crack under pressure. We won the race which is absolutely insane," he told
Canal+.Thanks to his victory at
Interlagos, the Dutchman could make an important step towards winning his fourth
F1 title. Verstappen currently leads ahead of
Lando Norris by 62 points in the standings, and could already become champion in Las Vegas.
