Toto Wolff has given the all-clear for his drivers to race this weekend. He confirms Valtteri Bottas will not play second fiddle to Lewis Hamilton in Austria.
Bottas has qualified ahead of his British team-mate this weekend. It's his 5th pole of all time and his second at Speilberg. Their boss went on to confirm the pairing do not face any team orders but added he may decide to introduce them as the championship edges towards the end.
"We've discussed that internally already," Wolff said in an interview on PlanetF1.
"We are at race nine there's a long way to go, and I think we owe it to the fans. It is also the racing mindset we have that we won't be playing for a drivers championship in June July.
"Obviously towards the end of the season, if you go in the last championship and you can see that this is a solid advantage for one of the drivers, this is the unfortunate situation within every race team that you need to look at. But not now."
The Red Bull team-mates had a bit of discussion after qualifying yesterday after Ricciardo felt his team could have been fairer. Later in the afternoon, the Australian admitted Verstappen was right, and tensions seem to have cooled overnight.
The run down to the first corner will be interesting. It's probably the best chance Lewis Hamilton has of overtaking his team-mate to go on and clinch the race win. Meanwhile the Red Bull boys are going to be battling with the Haas drivers.
