Sebastian Vettel has enjoyed a successful career in Formula 1. The German managed to win four world titles in a row with Red Bull Racing, putting him among the greatest drivers ever. His father Norbert Vettel followed his entire career with a sense of pride.

Like most other drivers in the motorsport class, Vettel was taught early on by his father. In an old go-kart, he tried to teach him a thing or two, not yet knowing how far his son could get. "He was small, so I added some material to the pedals so he could reach the throttle and the brake," Vettel told Formula1.com.

"We had to pad the seat out, too, as the seat was just too big. We marked out a track with a hairpin near where I worked. I stood at the side of the track, before the hairpin, to mark out where Sebastian needed to brake. That was the first thing he learned – braking points."

However, he stresses that he believes his son did it entirely by himself, which means he does not need any kudos for his efforts. Indeed, Vettel is convinced that every father tries to teach his son as much as possible.

Vettel leaves F1 feeling good

Vettel experienced his last year of racing in Formula 1 this season. Just this month, his overtaking move on Kevin Magnussen was voted the best overtaking manoeuvre of the 2022 season. In doing so, he left behind Lewis Hamilton, among others.
