McLaren were hoping to compete for the world title ahead of the current season, but that has proved more difficult than expected. During the opening race in Bahrain
Lando Norris and
Daniel Ricciardo fell outside the points, so there is still plenty to improve. Lando Norris also knows this, as he told the
BBC during the press conference.
The racing stable lost out to almost all teams in Bahrain. With a 14th and 15th place McLaren remained far from the points. It does not mean that Norris has lost his confidence, because according to the driver, his team is working hard behind the scenes to improve the car.
"Downforce, just overall grip, it’s quite a simple thing," Norris lists McLaren's problems. "The balance has been in a decent place quite a few times and if that’s the case and you’re slow, it’s a simple thing you need. In F1, all you need is downforce and that’s what we’re struggling with."
McLaren has tough challenge ahead
Already this week, it came to light that McLaren is struggling big time to understand their car. The team is said to have experienced several moments this season when it did different things than it expected beforehand.
