Starting from P1 on the grid,
Lando Norris lost the lead into Turn 1, and then he was overtaken by
George Russell, but managed to finish in P2 with a healthy gap. Norris summed up his sprint race.
Lando Norris was not satisfied with his start at
Interlagos.
"He doesn't have more power. I have more power! I have to review it. My initial start was good, but the second phase...maybe I was conservative. On the safe side. Caught sleeping with George but the pace was strong after," the
McLaren driver said immediately after the sprint race.
He continued: "[I] tried to go after Max. There was nobody around me apart from max and he's in a Red Bull. Not concerned, but encouraged. We're not suddenly going to be fighting Red Bull. Many positives, we'll try again tomorrow with some more overtaking."
Lando Norris will start tomorrow’s race from P6 on the grid after earning seven points today.
