Lando Norris has confirmed that he has also had talks with Red Bull Racing. Speaking to Auto, Motor und Sport the Brit tells us that the rumours about this are true.

Norris is currently considered one of the best drivers in Formula 1. Whereas in his first two seasons he was on a par with Carlos Sainz, in the past two seasons he has beaten Daniel Ricciardo around the ears. At McLaren, Norris seems to have found his niche. As a Briton in a British team, he is clearly the man to watch.

At the beginning of 2022, Norris therefore signed a new contract with the Woking-based team. He already had a multi-year deal at that point, but McLaren managed to secure him until 2025. Yet there were other hijackers on the coast, Norris now reveals.

''Of course there are conversations with other people from time to time. You always ask yourself: what is best for my career? After all, I want to win and win world championships. There have been talks with Red Bull. They are a team that has been in the top three for years. But that just goes to show how much confidence I have in McLaren. Although there were talks, I felt McLaren was better for me to achieve my goals,'' Norris said.

However, McLaren did not appear to be as far along as hoped in 2022. After a good start at the first winter test, expectations were high, but from the second test onwards things went all wrong. During the season, McLaren was able to fix that slightly, but fifth place in the world championship standings is not where the illustrious team would like to be.
