Lando Norris has admitted he would love to replicate his Formula 2 Bahrain win, with victory in Formula 1 this year but believes it is a little unrealistic and is taking things step by step.
Norris made it to Q3 in Melbourne last time out but failed to score points despite an impressive start to his F1 career. Norris earned a place in Formula 1 by coming second in F2 but won the first race of the 2018 season in Bahrain beating Sergio Sette Camara and Artem Markelov to P1. He wasn’t able to win the F2 title but his performances got him a spot at McLaren and the rookie admits it would be great to replicate last season’s performance.
“Well, I’d love to do the same, but I don’t think that is a very realistic goal,” admitted Norris.
“As much as I would love to have a similar result to what I had last year I know that’s an unrealistic aim for this weekend.
“But hopefully we can have a weekend like we did in Australia, a good qualifying and that will set us up a bit better for the race and I can work on the things I didn’t get done so well.”
